Brassica, Pak Choi/Bok Choy 'Extra Dwarf' Hybrid
- Sun Preference
- Full-Sun, Part-Sun
Description
The same delicious crispy stems and nutritious leafy greens as pak choi in a smaller size! Easy to steam and serve plants whole. This fast-growing variety is perfect for small gardens and container planting.
Pak choi grows best in cool weather. Sow seeds in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. In mild climates, plant again in fall for winter harvest. Optimal growing temperatures are between 60-70 degrees F. Mulch plants with organic material to prevent bolting (sending up a flower stalk) and preserve soil moisture. Thin seedlings to allow 4″-6″ of space between plants. Thinned seedlings can be added to salads and eaten raw. Harvest whole plants when heads are 2″-3″ tall by cutting the main stem close to the ground. Begin harvesting plants in just 30 days.
