Eruca, Wild Arugula Organic Heirloom
- Sun Preference
- Full-Sun, Part-Sun
Description
Wild Arugula, also known as garden rocket, is a slow-bolting culinary favorite traditionally found in kitchen gardens throughout Europe. More heat and cold tolerant than standard arugula. Its peppery flavor adds a kick to soups and summer salads.
Full sun to part shade, plenty of water, and rich soil make the best tasting greens. Direct sow after the danger of frost has passed. For fall harvests, direct sow in the end of July or the beginning of August. Successive sowings allow for continual harvests. There are two methods of gathering salad greens. You can use scissors to cut everything about 1-2″ from the ground, when the plants are about 3-4″ tall, or pick individual leaves as they’re needed. Salad greens will regrow for a second harvest in another 2 – 3 weeks.
