Description
Globe shaped fruits with thick, sweet flesh. New England Sugar Pie can grow to eight lbs. Will keep for several months in a cool, dry place. A favorite for canning and baking. Makes superb pies.
Plant in full sun or partial shade in rich soil. Start outdoors about two weeks after last spring frost, or indoors two weeks prior to last frost date. Feed monthly with side dressings of compost or vegetable fertilizer. For best shaped pumpkins, set fruit upright while still young. Harvest when rinds are hard and have turned bright orange. Leave a 3-4″ stem.
