Lactuca, Loose-Leaf Lettuce 'Red Sails'
- Sun Preference
- Full-Sun, Part-Sun
Description
A bright green interior with wavy, burgundy-red tipped leaves makes this one of the most attractive lettuces for your salad plate. Bolt-resistant and maintains its color even in hot weather. An All-America Selections award winner in 1985.
Lettuce prefers cool weather. Select a location with full sun, or part shade in hot areas. Sow in early spring, or fall/winter in mild climates. Keep soil evenly moist for best growth. Thin regularly. Lettuce does not like to be crowded. Cut leaves as needed, or harvest entire plant by cutting at stem.
Lactuca sativa | a slow-bolting variety, AAS winner
