Cucumis, Cucumber 'Straight Eight' Organic Heirloom
- Sun Preference
- Full-Sun
Description
Delicious, crispy fruit throughout the summer. Straight Eight has been one of the most popular slicing cucumbers since it won the All-American Selections Gold Medal in 1935.
Cucumbers grow best when direct sown after soil has warmed to 70°F, one week after last frost. Prefers rich soil but will produce well in almost any garden with full sun and consistent watering. Start transplants indoors five weeks before last frost date. For high yields feed monthly with compost or vegetable food. Pick regularly at 6-8″ size so fruit will continue to form. Vines may be trellised or tied to a fence to save space and keep fruits off the ground.
