The Benefits of Mulch

There are several great benefits of adding mulch to your landscaping; mulch prevents weed growth. Mulch is a great protector of plant roots in the winter and helps to prevent frost-heaving; in which plants are literally pushed out of the ground by the natural expansion and contraction of the soil as it cools off and heats up. Mulch will also keep the roots of plants cool during the heat of the summer. Mulch helps to keep the soil well aerated by reducing soil compaction that happens when raindrops hit the soil. Commercial Lawn Care Guide

To get a great looking lawn, there are a couple of easy steps to follow.  First, pick the correct grass seed for the area.  Gertens carries over 23 different mixes of grass seed; custom blends can also be created.  Next, to get the most germination when applying the seed, use a seed accelerator

and to establish the lawn, be sure to keep the seed and seed bed moist.  Last, maintain your lawn by using Gertens four-step fertilizing program and selectively applying herbicides.

Grass Seed Selection

Gertens grass seed is custom made just for our company and our customers.  Our mixes are specially blended for specific light, soil, maintenance areas and conditions.  Our best mixes for the sun include:

• Professional Sun & Shade
