Gertens Third Annual Landscaper's Challenge

Gertens Wholesale would like to recognize you and your company’s landscape or lighting project.  As a member of the landscape industry we know the benefits of adding landscaping and landscape lighting.  We want to make sure the general public is aware of those benefits and the level of professionalism that is available to them. That is why we are challenging designers and architects to enter a project.Submit the paperwork, plans and photos to Gertens by Monday, March 5th, 2012.  It’s free, there is no fee!

A panel of judges will review the entries, and pick the top three; two winner from the Design & Installation Category and one winner from the Landscape Lighting Category.  We will announce the winners at Gertens Spring Expo on Wednesday, March 21st, 2012.  The winners will also be announced in the Gertens e-newsletter and the company’s information will be displayed on our eight TV monitors as a part of Garden TV programming in Gertens Retail. Pictures of the projects will also be displayed at the Landscape Project Desk.  Guest appearances at some Gertens Retail events may be available throughout the season.

Eligibility:

Must be an MNLA member.  Only one project submitted per designer per business.  Gertens account must be in good standing.  We ask that 70% of the materials, whether they be hardscape, plant material or landscape lighting, be bought from Gertens.  You must show proof of purchase, and product will be verified.

The landscape and/or hardscape project will be judged on outstanding design and installation. We will assess the visual appeal of the design and how it relates to the space and other permanent fixtures. Creative and unique solutions will be viewed where applicable. Professionalism and quality workmanship are themes that need to be apparent on the site. If there is lighting, judging will be based on the integration of lighting into the landscape, proper installation and use of lights and meeting the demands and concerns of the client.

Judging: 

The judges will be people that are in the professional landscape industry, and will be objective in the screening and viewing process.  Use the project responsibility form, which is included, to further our understanding of the project and your company’s involvement in it.  Judging will not be based on the size and monetary value of the project, just the quality of work performed.

Requirements:

• Two 18"x24" or smaller black and white design plans, showing scale and a north arrow. No rolled or mounted plans will be accepted, remove company and designer
names.
• Submit up to 20 digital photos on a single CD-ROM. No picture in picture images please. Number each photo and put them in the correct sequence. Before, after and during shots best illustrate the process. Make sure no identifiable people, trucks or logos are visible. Do not label the CD with your company name.
• One page typed, listing photo numbers and a brief description of each.
• Completed entry and table of project responsibilities forms, both included in the following pages.
• Submit everything in an 11"x13" envelope, and mail it or drop it by to:
