This time of year, many of you are refreshing your container gardens with spruce tips and other fresh greens. Although you don’t need to water these containers during the winter months, fresh soil can help your tips and branches stay put during high winds and heavy snows. When you take out the old plants in your containers, you may have large holes to fill. So pick up a bag of lite-weight potting soil to fill the empty spaces. Too make your tips and greens even more secure, water your container and if the weather is right, the soil will freeze over night creating a sturdy home for your winter greens.
