Earth Day 2008
Dale K’s top 5 things to do in your garden on Earth Day, and every day, to help the environment we live in.
- Recycle your waste to make compost, waste equals food.
- Grasscycling is a new term for leaving grass clippings on the lawn after mowing. These clippings will give your lawn valuable nutrients and produce less work for both you and your waste company.
- Mulch: Feed your garden soil with shredded leaves or mulch to keep down weeds and conserve water.
- Collect your rain water. Rain barrels will catch this precious resource. Re-use to water your plants.
- Plant a native tree. Native trees are more likely to thrive over time and nurture bio-diversity. Minnesota birds, animals and insects will love it too!
